1. Accommodates magnetic and magneto-optical media 0.75” to 3.5”.

 

2. Low-distortion disk clamps, central-screw and screw-less.

 

3. Accommodates all common head suspensions, including boss-less, integrated, micro-actuating, with one-screw quick assembly.

 

4. Reproduces both geometry and dynamics of ANY mobile disk drives:

- start-stop, OD or ID load/unload, head-lifters,

- pivot-to-spindle distance, exact radius-skew profile, Z-height, etc.

 

5. Absolute head positioning with 0.003” accuracy when assembling a head on the tester, with no need for additional measuring tools.

 

6. Programmable disk speeds: 1 to 20,000 rpm.

 

7. Programmable head seeks and sweeps: 0.1 to 90 Hz (full stroke on 1.8” disk), with under/over-shoots below 5%.

 

8. Precision measurements of head-disk interface parameters:

- friction and stiction forces,

- dynamic gram-load,

- high-frequency contact acoustic emission,

- track-average amplitude, with extended read-back,

- thermal asperities 3-D mapping.

 

9. In-tester altitude with air pressure controller (up to 30,000 feet)
